Teacher contract, school calendar, up for board approval
McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Board of Education will be asked to approve a new teacher for sixth-grade reading and the school calendar for next year, at the regular meeting Monday, 6:30 p.m. at the Junior High conference room.
After the regular meeting, the board will meet in a closed, executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation. No action or vote will be taken at this meeting. There is not an agenda item so the board will adjourn following this closed session.
For sixth-grade reading, the board will be asked to approve a teaching contract for Erica Wood. Wood graduated from McCook High School in 2015 and from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in English education, 7-12. Wood has teaching experience as the language arts teacher at the Wauneta-Palisade Schools and at Kearney High School.
The school calendar up for approval has 185 teacher days and 176 student days. The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 16, for kindergarten through sixth grade and ninth grade, with a 2 p.m. dismissal. The first day for grades 7-8, 10-12 is Wednesday, Aug. 17 with a 2 p.m. dismissal for all grades. Graduation is scheduled on Friday, May 12, 2023.
A junior high art presentation will be given by Deb Goodenberger during the regular meeting.
