Younger McCook Bison rally past Southern Valley

McCOOK, Neb. — Wow, McCook’s seventh-graders delivered some super last-minute heroics to start their final week of this 2022 season.

They trailed Southern Valley by eight points early on Monday, but Grady Miller’s triple with less than one minute remaining brought back those Bison.

Ty Junker drained two freee throws at the five-second mark and McCook could celebrate a 40-37 comeback victory.

Tripp Raile’s 20 points topped McCook overall while Junker (12) and Miller (eight) divided those other 20.

Southern Valley led 14-6 through on quarter only to see the resilient Bison jump in front, 22-20, at intermission.

It was a fantastic home finale since McCook seventh grade (5-2 record) completes its season at North Platte today.

The Bison “B” team also triumphed, 33-13, on Monday over Southern Valley.

Kale Sattler’s 11 points and 10 from Jacob Barber powered the Bison.

Gunner Kaps added four points, Aiden Lauer three, TJ Puckett two, Bo Schlegel two and Grady Lentz one point.
