Raiders block 12 shots; Warriors reach 13 wins

A rundown of girls area basketball action from the weekend not appearing in today's McCook Gazette:
Medicine Valley 39, Brady 16
BRADY, Neb. — Senior Kaylyn Roblee blocked six shots as the Medicine Valley Raiders roared to an 18-1 start and 27-6 by halftime against those 0-23 Brady Eagles.
The MV girls blocked 12 shots total with sophomore Sienna Houghtelling swatting three. Med Valley (10-11) forced 32 turnovers.
Sophomore Stella Heapy outscored the Eagles, 17-16, while hitting four of her eight three-pointers.
Junior Kylie Rose shot 50 percent inside the arc and put in six points. Roblee, junior Mia Farr and freshman Remmi Stout added four points each.
Heap's eight rebounds, five steals and four assists were other Raider bests. They'll enter D-2 subdistrict play at Maywood tonight as the No. 2 seed.
Arapahoe 53, Bertrand 31
ARAPAHOE, Neb. — The Warriors finished their 13-9 regular season as senior Hope Koller scored 16 points in her final basketball game at Arapahoe High Friday.
Junior Emerson Swanson's 13 points complemented Koller nicely and sophomore Berkley Warner buried three chocolates before the holiday from outside that magical arc.
Warner totaled 10 points in a nice bounce back from Tuesday's home loss to neighbor/rival Cambridge.
Swanson's six steals, four steals and eight-for-10 free throws were other Warrior bests vs. 2-20 Bertrand.
Sophomore Sabrina Jacobsen's six rebounds matched Koller and Berkley Warner for team highs. Arapahoe plays next in tonight's subdistrict at Cambridge against Southwest.
Alma 37, Cambridge 33
ALMA, Neb. — An RPAC East finals rematch went to the Alma Cardinals again Friday evening.
The Cardinals reached 18-3 behind 16 points from sophomore leader Addison Seibels.
Senior Carlee Stuhmer tossed in 10 and junior Addison Neal burned the Trojan defense for seven.
Cambridge (15-8) was coming one of its better scoring efforts with a 59-32 victory at Arapahoe on Tuesday.
No Trojan reached double figures Friday night, though senior Autumn Deterding grabbed 10 rebounds and scored a team-high nine points.
Sophomore Jalen Kent (eight), senior Paige Klumpe (seven) and junior Jacey Kent (four) were the next top Cambridge point producers. Junior Breelle Miller delivered the only two Trojan assists.
Axtell 53, Southwest 44
AXTELL, Neb. — Axtell (12-10 record) broke free to win its home finale against a determined 11-9 Southwest Roughrider team Friday evening.
Junior Caylin Barnett's 14 points and eight rebounds led Southwest with sophomore Bailey Truksa sending a trio of three-point shots through the nets. Truksa totaled 11 points.
Sophomore Bryn Lampe added six points. Freshman Allison VanPelt delivered four assists besides scoring five points.
Freshmen classmates Atleigh Nelms and Asia Gallegos controlled six rebounds apiece.
Gering 50, Chase County 47
GERING, Neb. — Gering followed a Thursday win over McCook with this close home conquest of 17-7 Chase County on Saturday.
No Longhorn individual stats were obtained.
Junior Carleigh Pszanka put in 20 points and senior Sydney Winkler 11 for the 12-10 Bulldogs.
