McCOOK, Neb. — Ronald Eugene Magner, age 78, of McCook, passed away at his residence in McCook on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022.

Ron was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Los Angeles, Calif., to mother, Cynthis J. Stowers.

Ron was a 30-year veteran of the United States Marines. He enlisted in 1963 and earned the rank of Private First Class. His efforts in the Vietnam War awarded him a defense service medal, campaign medal, Presidential Unit Citation, multiple Purple Hearts and Marksman Badge Rifle. Ron was honorably discharged in 1992 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Ron enjoyed playing pool and made several trips to Vegas where he played competitively. He was also a race car driver.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother; and other extended family members.

He is survived by his close friend, Rick (Betty) Michaelsen of McCook; as well as extended family.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell, Neb.
