Bulldogs cause trouble for McCook girls in SWC

AINSWORTH, Neb. — The Ainsworth Bulldogs made it six wins in seven games with their 50-39 Southwest Conference tournament win over McCook’s girls Monday.

Ainsworth (11-6) advances into SWC semifinals because of perhaps the most basic basketball explanation:

“I felt we outplayed Ainsworth in many aspects of the game,” Bison coach Amy Scheil said. “Our inside girls did an awesome job on the boards. It just happened they (Ainsworth) shot the ball really well and we didn’t.”

McCook’s overall shooting percentage was just 25, according to maxpreps.com.

The Bison play a 7 p.m. consolation game on Thursday in Gothenburg.

BISON (8-9 record) — Joy Rippen 11 points, Peyton Doucet 9, Shawna Wilkinson 6, Ainsley Taylor 5, Sierra Kotschwar 4, Emma Dutton 2, Tori Honn 2. Three-pointers: Taylor, Doucet, Rippen. Rebound leaders: Kotschwar 8, Rippen 5. Assists: Doucet 4. Steals: Wilkinson 3.

BULLDOGS (11-6) — Individual stats were not obtained.
