McCook High honors Big 12 champion alum

McCook High honored all-time track and field great Molly Sughroue (above) during halftime of Saturday’s home basketball games against Valentine. Bison girls coach Brent May (above) presented Molly with her Oklahoma State University jersey which will be retired into the McCook High School Athletic Hall of Fame for all fans to see. Parents Harry Sughroue and Lorri Sughroue (below) also arrived to honor Molly along with other friends and family. During her Bison career, Molly was a three-time Nebraska All-Class gold medal champion in the 800-meter run. The 2014 graduate also won three more Class B 400-meter run state championships. She holds McCook high school records in the 400, 400, 1600-meter relay and 3200-meter relay. Molly moved on to NCAA Division I Oklahoma State University where she ran track and cross country. She was part of multiple Big 12 Conference championship efforts while advancing to NCAA National meets. Molly also played basketball throughout her McCook Bison athletic career.
