Cattle Trail tournament just around the corner
McCOOK, Neb. — Varsity basketball openers tip off Thursday and Friday leading into the annual Cattle Trail Tournament next week.
Several Gazette-area teams are set to compete again in McCook starting one week from today.
The tourney moves to McCook’s Graff Events Center for semifinal play on Thursday, Dec. 10.
Championship games take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
A rundown of all the opening-round contests on Dec. 7:
GIRLS
Hitchcock County vs. Wauneta-Palisade, 3:30 p.m. at McCook High
Southwest vs. Medicine Valley, 3:30 at MCC
Arapahoe vs. Decatur Community , Kan., 6:30 p.m. at McCook High
Maywood-Hayes Center vs. Dundy County-Stratton, 6:30 at MCC
BOYS
Maywood-Hayes Center vs. Arapahoe, 5 p.m. at McCook High
Medicine Valley vs. Decatur Community, Kan., 5 p.m. at MCC
Southwest vs. Hitchcock County, 8 p.m. at McCook High
Dundy County-Stratton vs. Wauneta-Palisade, 8 p.m. at MCC
Dec. 10 semifinals
Girls at MCC: Winners of Hitchcock-W.P and Arapahoe-Decatur, 3:30 p.m.; winners of SW-Med Valley and MHC-DCS, 6:30 p.m. Consolation semis are same times at MHS.
Boys at MCC: Winners of Med Valley-Decatur and Hitchcock-SW, 5 p.m.; winners of MHC-Arapahoe and DCS-WP, 8 p.m.
Dec. 11 finals
GIRLS
Seventh place, 1 p.m. at MHS; Fifth place, 1 p.m. at MCC; Third place, 4 p.m. at MHS.
BOYS
Seventh place, 2:30 p.m. at MHS; Fifth place, 2:30 p.m. at MCC; Third place, 4 p.m. at MCC.
