'Riders trounce Tigers, Trojans topple Hi-Line

PAXTON, Neb. — Sophomore Caylin Barnett crushed 19 kills and Bailey Truska ripped 12 more during Southwest’s 25-10, 25-15, 25-18 pounding of Paxton Friday evening.

The Roughriders reached 15 wins (15-8) entering tonight’s challeing home triangular.

Rivals Cambridge and Hitchcock County are both flying high as they challenge Southwest at Bartley tonight.

Senior Jazmine Walz served three of eight aces during the ’Rider victory at Paxton with freshman Peyton Truksa serving two.

Barnett only missed two hits all match (19 for 21) while also hustling to a team-high 22 digs.

Bailey Truksa added 17 digs and libero Delaney Critchfield made 13.

Sophomore setter Bryn Lampe also smoothly totaled 36 assists. Barnett handled 16 serve receives.

Cambridge sweeps

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Sophomore Jalen Kent’s 19 kills and 17 digs powered Cambridge to its 19th win this season by a 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 final over Hi-Line Friday night.

The Trojans (19-5 record) also featured 11 kills from senior Autumn Deterding while junior Jacey Kent dropped 10 past that Hi-Line defense.

Freshman Erin Johnson’s seven and five for senior Schyler Hobarty finished an impressive 52-kill attack.

Jalen Kent also served threee aces with senior Carsyn Hanes sending two to the home court.

Besides Jalen’s 17, Jacey Kent covered the floor for 15 digs.

Junior setter Breelle Miller delivered 41 assists to those hitters.
