HAYES CENTER, Neb. — Nothing sharpens the Wolves of Maywood-Hayes Center like a visit from always challenging Wauneta-Palisade.

“It’s always a great game when us and Wauneta-Palisade play,” coach Kory Rohde declared.

The Broncos (10-7 record) arrived with wins in four of their last five matches.

They served 19 aces and saw sophomore Peyton Cox crush 15 kills during their most recent victory over Dundy County-Stratton Tuesday.

However, no team’s on a roll like the M-HC Wolves — and that continued Thursday evening.

The Wolves (15-1) made it 11 straight wins as junior Olivia Hansen’s 12 kills and six ace blocks powered a 25-17, 25-13, 25-21 victory.

Junior Aniah Seiler stepped up to serve 16 points while Lexi Wood, Maddie Doyle and Kiley Hejtmanek teamed for another seven stuff blocks.

“Our intensity and net play were very impressive,” Rohde proclaimed. “Our JV set the tone for the night with a great win and the varsity just continued to roll.”

Maddie Doyle smashed six more kills and Wood whipped four around Bronco defenders. Hejtmanek totaled 14 assists with Wood delivering nine. The Wolves have kept winning despite missing sparkplug Ashlin Broz due to a summer knee injury.

“I’m very happy with how the girls played tonight,” Rohde concluded.
