NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — McCook High’s reserve football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a last-minute 24-22 win over North Platte recently.

Sophomore MitchelCole had a huge game for the bison.

Cole knocked in three extra points along with the game-winning 33 yard field goal during that final minute.

Ground game was working for the Bison, rushing for over 270 yards just as McCook’s varsity boys did against York Friday evening.

Van Keslin led the Bison reserves in rushing with 155 yards and a 41-yard TD scamper.

Quinton Terry had 55 yards, Brett Fraker 45 yards and a TD, Cole nine yards and Ethan Schmidt six yards with one TD.

“Have to give a lot of credit to the offensive line, they were blowing open huge holes for our backs” McCook coach Jeremy Young said. “Defensively, we came up with a game plan that would slow down North Platte’s running game. The boys did a pretty good job of limiting North Platte to a select few plays.”

McCook’s freshman and sophomore reserves are scheduled to play next at Kearney on Thursday, Sept. 23.

Opening kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
