McCOOK, Neb. -- Dr. Emily Young, PT, DPT, CLC, told a chamber gathering that she had a vision for opening a physical therapy clinic that focused on the spiritual and mental side of therapy, as well as the physical. As a result, Elevate Wellness and Physical Therapy was born. Located at 801 West C Street, Suite #3 in McCook, the spacious clinic is staffed with caring individuals who put the patients’ needs first.

Dr. Young said locating the clinic in McCook was a natural, as her husband is from this area, and she has several years of experience in offering services in a rural setting. “Southwest Nebraska is a little bit isolated. We’re really far away from Kearney. We’re really far away from Lincoln. But why can’t we have great services and great things here, just like they have in Omaha?”

Dr. Young introduced her staff to the ribbon-cutting crowd. Shayne Vaught, currently described as the “insurance queen”, is pursuing her Health and Wellness Certification online, and will be the Wellness Coach for the facility.

Shayne told the crowd that she was previously a physical therapy assistant, but wanted to be able to help patients reach their goals by talking through problems and promoting overall wellness and living a healthy lifestyle.

Brittany Unger, PTA, CPT, is also on staff at Elevate. The McCook native recently earned her personal training certification and will help patients achieve their fitness-related goals, either as an extension of injury rehabilitation or independent of physical therapy. Brittany is also working on attaining a nutrition certification so she can also provide nutrition coaching.

Ashley Broomfield is the Patient Relations Coordinator who provides follow-up with patients, handles inquiries, and provides additional information through newsletters and other communication.

Kaedin Waugh is a high school student who has an interest in becoming a physical therapist and is interning at the facility to learn more about the profession.

Also renting space inside Elevate Wellness and Physical Therapy is Katie Farrell Reformer Pilates and Yoga. Katie offers both private and semi-private lessons to her clients. The compliment of Pilates and Yoga, alongside physical therapy, provides many benefits to their mutual clients/patients.

Chamber President Brandi McConnell thanked Dr. Young for her contribution to McCook and for helping to develop a more health-conscious community.
