Hays Eagles bring 'brooms' as they sweep MNB
McCOOK, Neb. — Hays Eagles soared to their 11th and 12th consecutive wins with an 8-1, 15-2 doubleheader sweep of McCook National Bank Wednesday at the Jaycees Complex.
The always tough 19-and-under Kansas team (17-4 record) hasn’t lost since June 21.
The Eagles delivered earlier wins this season over the Omaha Spikes along with mercy-rule routs of Salina, Kan., among other opponents.

Larson did pitch a 1-2-3 inning where three Eagles all hit pop flies landing in MNB gloves.
Hays had already went 5-5-5 through the first three innings.
Garrett Wellbrock whipped three hits across the diamond while Bradyn Dreher drove in three runs.
Carson Spray, Remington Cox and Gage Porter added two RBIs apiece.
The Seniors (9-12 record) totaled seven hits during Wednesday’s first game.
Larson and Jordan Chauncy both finished two-for-three.
Tanner Jacobs added another hit to his team-high .429 season batting average.
Coleton Lentz singled and scored the one MNB run on Jacobs’ single.
Jacob Gomez-Wilson pitched all six innings of the opener. He kept MNB within range at 4-1 throguh four frames before Hays plated four in the fifth and sixth.
Gomez-Wilson allowed eight hits with only four of those Hays runs earned.
