Late-inning rally lifts Minden past FCB, 7-6
MINDEN, Neb. — A final three-run flurry helped Minden edge McCook National Bank, 7-6, and ruin the Seniors’ rally from 4-0 down Thursday night.
Quentin Terry crushed a home run in his Seniors debut which started the comeback.
The Seniors (6-6 record) still trailed 4-3 even though Alex Anthony’s double drove home Adam Dugger.
However, Terry’s leadoff single in the sixth ignited a go-ahead rally.
Bryson Gullion ran for catcher Terry to follow his four-hit performance during the Juniors’ 6-4 win earlier on Thursday.
Carter Larson bunted Gullion to second just before Jacob Gomez-Wilson was plunked by an inside pitch.
Tanner Jacobs walked to load the bases for MNB.
On a two-strike pitch, Layne Stevens lifted the game-tying sacrifice fly as Gullion motored home to make it 4-4.
The Seniors weren’t satisfied as Dugger soon sent a shot past Minden’s center fielder.
Both Jacobs and Gomez-Wilson reached home to form a 6-4 McCook lead.
Yet Minden showed why its record stands at 15-2 this season.
The hosts rallied again on Brennan Runge’s two-run hit.
They were able to record those next three outs which saved the 7-6 win over MNB.
McCook made a far better showing than the 13-1 home defeat on June 13.
The MNB Seniors now enter a busy Kearney tournament where they’ll play four games starting today through Sunday afternoon.
