Youth Development Director joins McCook YMCA

McCOOK, Neb. -- The YMCA of McCook is happy to announce the hiring of Saraya Flaig as its Youth Development Director. Saraya comes to McCook from Lewiston, Idaho where she most recently served as a Library Media Tech for the Lewiston School District. A graduate from the University of Idaho, Flaig brings a wealth of experience in children’s activity programming.

The YMCA of McCook is re-branding its child-care offerings as “Youth Development” to better serve its members and the community.

The goal of the transformation is to provide structured learning opportunities that will provide a positive experience for children and their families. In addition to the change in programming, the Youth Development room at the YMCA of McCook has undergone a makeover to enhance the environment where kids will learn and play on a daily basis.

“We are extremely excited to add Saraya to our YMCA family,” said Mitch Gross, CEO, YMCA of McCook. “We look forward to Saraya leading our Youth Development programs and helping us bring a new vision to this department as we go through the rebranding process. Saraya’s experience and leadership skills will greatly benefit our Summer Adventure Camp, After School Enrichment Program, and future special -events.”

The Summer Adventure Camp is the first program at the top of Saraya Flaig’s agenda.

The weekly themed Camp offers a wide variety of engaging summer activities for children entering 1st Grade through 5th Grade. New experiences, skill-building, and lasting friendships are all an integral part of the YMCA Summer Adventure Camp. The 2021 Summer Adventure Camp began June 1 and is 10 weeks long. Registration is by the week and the fee is to attend camp is $125 per child for members or $135 per child for non-members. Space is limited.

“My goal for this program is to provide our area youth with organized experiences that allow for learning opportunities in a fun environment.
