NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — All three area Class D state golfers dropped scores during their final rounds at Lake Maloney Golf Course on Wednesday.

Despite approaching stormy conditions, Dundy County-Stratton junior Nolan Burrell improved three strokes (89-86) and his 175 placed 28th among 96 who finished these 36 holes.

Southern Valley senior Colton Burgeson sliced five strokes off Tuesday’s total as his 187 (96-91) tied for 43rd place overall.

DC-S senior Cheve Lutz was four strokes better on Wednesday en route to 204 for his two-day total.

Lutz claimed a share of 64th place which means outgolfed more than 30 Class D qualifiers.

Mullen senior Brendon Walker won the Class D title at 146 (70-76) just more than a week after winning his district at Heritage Hills.

North Platte’s Connor Hasenauer improved 12 strokes (83-71) for second and it helped the Irish (645) win a Class D state team title.

Elm Creek was distant second at 697.
