GOTHENBURG, Neb. — McCook High golfed to two of the top three spots and a Southwest Conference team championship at Wildhorse Golf Course Thursday.

Coach Joe Vetrovsky provided these comments as senior Brady Esch won the SWC title with his 75 and classmate Payton Craw carded 76.

“Perfect weather conditions for the event.

The McCook Bison golf team were the team champions of the tournament with a season best team score of 318. Ogallala High School was runner-up with a team score of 325. The Bison golfers competed very well today.

The Bison were led by senior Brady Esch who scored a 75 and was the individual champion for the tournament.

Brady had a great round today and capitalized on a number of birdie opportunities throughout the day.

Second in scoring for the Bison was senior Payton Craw by carding a 76 and placing 3rd as an individual today. Payton had a very steady round today, but one of the biggest highlights of Payton’s round was he got a hole in one on the par 3 hole number 4.

This was very exciting and something that is a rarity in competition play.

Another top scorer for the Bison was junior Hunter Hansen by carding an 82 and placing 10th as an individual today.

Hunter did a great job managing the golf course today and being precise around the greens.

Another top scorer for the Bison was junior Jonas Sommerville by carding an 85 and placing 13th as an individual today.

Jonas was very solid off the tee box today which set up some great opportunities for him throughout his round.
