Kansas rival Buffs, Devils win before showdown

ATWOOD, Kan. — The Rawlins County and Decatur Community girls both scored big wins Tuesday to set up their showdown Thursday evening.

Decatur reached 11-9 this season with a 45-33 home win over Logan-Palco where freshman Rayne Erickson scored 16 points.

Erickson hit six of her 10 field goals while sophomore Breyana Gering and junior Jacie Fortin both secured nine rebounds.

Gering finished with eight points, Fortin seven, junior Brynna Addleman five and sophomore Gabrielle Vontz four.

The Red Devils earned a solid win despite hitting just 12 of 35 free throws.

Meanwhile, Rawlins County (8-11) unleashed a 43-point first half and raced past Dighton, 65-59, Tuesday night.

Senior Kierstyn Domsch delivered 21 points, junior Sadie Sramek scored 17 and junior Rylee Unruh set another 13 points through the home nets.

Sophomore Mariyah Nichols controlled the glass where she cleaned up 14 rebounds and freshman Abby Micek grabbed 11.
