NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Mid-Plains Community College governors voted against purchasing land adjacent to the Imperial campus, picked an engineer for roadway connecting the U.S. Highway 83 to the North Platte South Campus, and approved bonds for refinancing the Health Complex in North Platte and the Events Center in McCook.

Following a closed session at the meeting in North Platte Wednesday night, the board declined to purchase nine lots in Imperial as well as a vacated street and alley near the Imperial campus.

The board did authorize the issuance a total of $4.45 million in bonds for refinancing the Health Complex in North Platte and Events Center in McCook.

JEO Consulting Group Inc. was approved to provide project engineering and construction phase services for $90,300 for the roadway project connecting Highway 83 to Willow Street.

The board recognized Dr. Kathy Harrison as recipient of the 2020 Western Regional Faculty Member Award from the Association of Community College Trustees, and outgoing board member Louis Stithem was recognized for his many years of service on the MPCC Board of Governors.

The resignation of nursing instructor Stephanie Seamann was accepted as part of the consent agenda.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CST) Jan. 20 at North Platte Community College North Campus, W.W. Wood Building, Room 202-204.
