PALISADE, Neb. — Arthur John Werner, age 59, of Palisade, passed peacefully, on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, surrounded by family at his son’s home in Lincoln, Neb.

John (as he was known) was born Jan. 16, 1961, in Sacramento, Calif. He graduated in 1979 from John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento, Calif. John moved to Tahlequah, Okla., and joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.

John married Tamara (Tammy) Merriam in Tahlequah, Okla., on Feb. 14, 1990. The couple lived in Texas and Oklahoma, before settling in Palisade in 1992. Arthur was employed as a semi- truck driver for many years and was a mechanic on the side. He enjoyed dirt track racing and working on race cars.

Survivors include son, Arthur C “Ace” Werner and fiancé, Hannah Schultz of Lincoln, daughter, Crystal Werner of Kearney, Neb., daughter, Aletha Hagan and husband, Bryan of Culbertson, Neb.; brother, David Werner of Palisade; sister, Barbara (Werner) Claus and husband, Joe, of Texas; aunt and uncle, Mary and John Oesau of Wisconsin; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; grandchildren, Dakota Hagan, Colten Hagan, Dalten Hagan, Emma Hagan, Landon Werner, Braxton Werner, Grayson Werner, Jersi Winkler and Easton Winkler.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur W. (Shorty) and Rose M. Werner; wife, Tamara (Tammy) L. Werner; brother, Kenneth (Pete) Werner; and sister, Patty Miller.

No visitation, John’s wishes were for cremation.

A memorial has been suggested to the Werner Family for a future designation.
