Commissioners hear property protests, other business
McCOOK, Neb. -- Meeting as a board of equalization Monday, Red Willow County Commissioners granted a homestead exemption and denied a valuation change requested in another protest.
Commissioners voted unanimously to not change valuation for property owned by Scott Snyder, who filed a protest after three buildings, previously omitted from property rolls, were added at a prior meeting. Snyder can take the case to the Tax Equalization Review Commission as a next step.
Bonnie Schumaker was granted a homestead exemption after discrepancies were explained regarding the date of sale of property was closed.
A tax roll correction for a homestead exemption for Steve and Ladonna Harrison of Lebanon was also approved.
In other business, the county received a check of nearly $10,000 as a safety dividend from MNB Insurance, Wardcraft Homes was given permission to move a home from Minden to Benkelman, and commissioners decided to meet only Dec. 14 and 28 because of pandemic concerns.
