McCook Unified bowls to win over Bearcats

McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Unified bowlers beat Kearney in a recent dual and took second during last weekend’s Grand Island Northwest Invitational.

Monday, Nov. 9

Win at Kearney

McCook won the dual by a score of 1983 to 1826.

The team of Caleb Shaw. Olivia Koetter, Mason Michaelis, Luke Maris and Dylan Rouse scored a total of 888 points.

The team of Allen Holliday, Ethan Hicks, Ethan Graff, Jonas Sommerville, and Alec Langan scored 672.

The team of McKayla Hixon, Amalia Almanza, Grace Hoyt, and Krysta Henning had a 6 game total of 568.

Saturday

McCook bowlers traveled to Grand Island to participate in the GINW tournament.

The team of Caleb Shaw, Luke Maris, Dylan Rouse and Ethan Graff completed four games of Baker’s format bowling for a total of 469 which placed them in the gold division of the tournament.

They beat Kearney 2-1 to advance to the semifinals against eventual champions York.

They lost to York 2-1.The team of Allen Holliday, Ethan Hicks, Ian Brown and Jonas Sommerville completed their 4 games with a score of 363 placing them in the silver division tournament.

They would face off against York’s second team losing 2-1.

“Both teams bowled well, we just had too many open frames we couldn’t come back from,” Kinne concluded about the matches.

McCook will travel to North Platte on Saturday to participate in the North Platte tournament.
