Unbeaten Wolves reach 7-0 with sweep of Maxwell

MAXWELL, Neb. — Senior Jaycee Widener’s 19 kills powered Maywood-Hayes Center to 7-0 with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-15 sweep of Maxwell Thursday evening.

Sophomore Ashlin Broz delivered 19 assists with another 16 from Kiley Hejtmanek.

Broz served 14 points while only missing one of her 20 serves.

“We played a pretty solid game tonight,” coach Kory Rohde commented. “We let them (Maxwell) get ahead of us in the third set, but showed a lot of focus to outscore them 10-2 to close out the set. Maxwell was very scrappy tonight.”

The fired-up Wildcats still slipped to 0-7 this season.

Other M-HC leader wre Lexi Wood with seven kills and 10 points on 14-of-14 serving.

Olivia Hansen drilled five more kills and served 11-for-12 (six points).

Hansen and Broz each made one ace block.

Trojans

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Powerhouse Overton scored a 25-9, 25-16, 19-25, 25-18 conquest of the Cambridge Trojans Thursday evening.

Senior Haley Fleischman smashed 21 kills and classmate Rachel Ecklund clobbered 14 for the 8-1 Eagles.

No individual stats were obtained on Cambridge as the Trojans slipped to 5-3 this season.

ATWOOD, Kan. — The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos earned a tough 25-22, 25-20 sweep of Rawlins County Thursday night which raised their season record to 3-2.

Coach Terra Higgins’ team dropped an earlier 27-25, 25-15 decision to St. Francis, Kan.
