COLUMBIA, Mo. — Jim Dean Greenlee, 87, of Columbia, Mo., passed away April 29, 2020, at his home.

Jim was born Aug. 28, 1932, in McCook, Neb., one of eight children to Alva and Vilma (Masters) Greenlee. He graduated from Curtis High School in 1950. He then served his country as a Sergeant in the Army.

In 1953, he married Viola Ruppert. They were the parents of two sons, Douglas and Monte Ray.

Jim earned a bachelor’s degree from Kearney State and a master’s degree at OSU. He worked as an engineer for General Electric and TRW and traveled extensively with his family, before settling down in Missouri. He then taught math, science and physics at both the high school and college level. When he retired from teaching, he and his wife moved to Columbia, where they spent their days playing cards, going to the senior center, gardening and enjoying time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Doug Greenlee; his parents, Alva and Velma Greenlee; brothers, Ralph and Kenneth; and sister, Doris Swanson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Viola Greenlee; son, Monte Greenlee and wife Denise; brother, Truman (Lael) Greenlee; sisters, Ann Gilliland, Karen (Marion) Tatum and Nita (Kenneth) Malleck; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to Union Cemetery, 61 Tavern Creek Rd., Iberia, Missouri 65486, in memory of Jim Greenlee.
