Free online course streamlines path to CNA training
McCOOK, Neb. — Requirements have been relaxed to become a certified nurses assistant, due to the COIVD-19 pandemic.
During these unprecedented times, federal regulators have implemented new requirements, in conjunction with Gov. Pete Ricketts, related to becoming a CNA. Companies like Hillcrest can now train CNAs, said Brad Cheek, Hillcrest administrator.
The process is very simple, Cheek said. Enroll and pass the eight-hour online free course.
Take your certificate to a company that will hire you, such as Hillcrest, and the company will provide the training you will need.
Cheek said the free training is being offered due to possible critical staff shortages at nursing home facilities in the near future.
CNAs are direct care givers to the residents, helping with day-to-day activities such as dressing and grooming.
If you have ever thought of becoming a CNA or would like to earn some extra money during these times, this is an excellent opportunity, Cheek said.
Those who are interested can contact Hillcrest at 308-345-4600 for more details.
