New home construction leads building in city

McCOOK, Neb. —New building in the City of McCook is inching toward the million-dollar mark, with $529,538 recorded for the month of March.

Year-to-date, $710,888.50 in estimated construction costs of new building has been recorded, according the City of McCook’s monthly building permit report. A total of $920.89 in permit fees were collected by the city in March, with $1,467 collected year-to-date.

In March, new building was led by two new homes, one a modular home at $154,600 and another new house with a garage, $230,000, both inside city limits.

Other new building that took place in March included:

-- three single family garages, a 16’ by 20’ foot shed at $2,000, a 26’ by 50’ foot post frame building at $49,640 and a 26’ by 26’ foot garage at $10,000;

-- two new commercial signs, $14,795 and $1,200;

-- a fence at $1,700;

-- carport at $2,166;

-- two demolitions, at trailer house at $1,800 and a house at $14,800;

-- one single family egress window at $4,892.

A total of $41,945 of new roofing was also recorded in March, for six buildings.
