Medicare for All
Dear Editor,
A recently-published Yale study found Medicare for All would save more than $450 billion and prevent 68,000 deaths every year. Gosh! Think about that! We could cut out the profit-motivated insurance companies in a broken system where THEY, not doctors, have the power to decide what medical care we get when we cannot afford to pay what they won't cover.
It is a broken system that has resulted in our life expectancy GOING DOWN. Why don't we reject the nonsense about increased wait time, which we have now, and the Yale-debunked myth that Medicare for All would cost more, which is ridiculous because we would lose the whole insurance machine and its massive paperwork black hole of greed-guided inefficiency?
It's time to dump our rotten system which causes financial stress, and sometimes stress about whether or not we get to live, for so many Americans. It's time to give doctors back the ability to treat and prescribe without worry about whether or not the insurance company will pay and whether their patients can afford care when the insurance company won't pay.
It's time to open our minds and hearts and show some real love for our fellow Americans and ourselves by making it possible for ALL of us to have medical care with Medicare for All!
Sincerely,
Pat Holder
