Broncos edge Wolves for Trail top three
McCOOK, Neb. — Wauneta-Palisade’s boys fought off a furious rally and beat Maywood-Hayes Center, 53-51, for the Cattle Trail consolation title Saturday.
Senior Ty Duvel tallied 18 points with seniors Ben Anderjaska, Tucker Boos and Austen Rozelle adding 10 apiece.
Together, they helped the Broncos build a 39-26 lead through three quarters.
The Wolves (2-3) unleashed a 25-point fourth quarter but fell just short. Senior Eli Handsaker’s 16 points paced the attack with freshman Kyler Cox scoring 13 and sophomore Weston Morrow 10.
Morrow set a new Cattle Trail record when he hit 14 of 15 free throws in Tuesday’s win over Arapahoe.

Southwest 45-35
The Southwest Roughriders scored their first win this season over Decatur Community (Kan.) behind Justin Brush’s 15 points Friday night.
Freshmen Kaden Day (eight), Cole Barnett and Zack Ryan (six) teamed for another 20 points.
Senior John Stritt and freshman Hunter Cunningham added five points each.
Medicine Valley topped Arapahoe, 39-28,. for fifth place on Saturday.
Warriors win
Grant Taylor’s incredible 14-point fourth quarter lifted the Arapahoe Warriors to a 47-37 win over Decatur Community (Kan.) for seventh place in the Trail.
Taylor drilled a triple of three-point bombs and powered inside to another two baskets.
He added a free throw to help finish this Warrior win at McCook High.
Reilley Einspahr netted seven of his nine points in the final period.
Cord Frink scored seven points before intermission.
Garrett Van Meter’s 10 points led 0-4 Decatur Community.
