McCook girls blast past Haymakers
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — The McCook Bison served 11 aces and never lost control of a 25-12, 25-13 sweep over Cozad at Tuesday’s Cambridge volleyball triangular.
Junior Elsa Wicox served five of those aces while sophomore Addison Randel sent four past the Haymakers.
Sophomore Peyton Doucet and junior Liviya Wier added one apiece.
“We did serve aggressively and we served well,” coach Audrey Feeney confirmed. “I thought we played a solid match overall. We kept pounding at them (Cozad).”
Wier sizzled six kills to keep the Bison attack strong.
Junior Harley Cribbs (four), Wilcox (three), Randel (three) and junior Tiara Matson (three) kept winless Cozad from ever focusing on just one Bison hitter.
Sophomore Calina Allen mixed in another pair of key points for the 5-10 Bison.
Matson delivered 10 assists and Fawver put another eight in position for the Bison bombers.
Doucet made nine digs from her libero position.
“Peyton played good defense,” the coach confirmed.
McCook made it two straight wins after beating the Holdrege Dusters on their home floor Saturday afternoon.
“We’re getting better,” Feeney concluded. “We just need to get more consistent.”
