New grocer offers quality Mexican cuts and imports
McCOOK, Neb. — If you've struggled to replicate your favorite Mexican dish at home, McCook's newest downtown business might just have the missing ingredient you've been looking for.
The deli at Carniceria CB Mexican Store features a variety of Mexican cut steaks and specialty cheeses and you'll find a host of imported spices and dry ingredients lining the grocery aisles.
Diezmillo, commonly known as sirloin steak, or arrachera, which you may know as hangar steak, are among the many cuts of fresh meat available.
"We offer high-quality meats with Mexican style cuts for roasting, already prepared with vegetables and seasoning for ease of home cooking," said owner Mayra Beltran, touting the grocer's ready-to-grill fajitas. Carniceria CB's fajitas are likely to become an early local favorite due to their convenience. The fajitas are sold at a per-pound price with premium cuts of meat, peppers, onions and spices already marinating and ready to be thrown on the grill.
Carniceria CB owners Beltran and Miguel Camacho relocated along with the couple's two children, Miguel and Ana Camacho, from Platteville, Colorado, where they previously worked for a rancher in the ag industry. The first-time business owners brought a desire to succeed and said the presence of Walmart and McCook's role as a retail hub for the region were prime factors in choosing the location to open their own business.
"We are so excited to be here and we want everyone to know that we are a small family of four with a lot of desire to progress. We are going to offer the best treatment and the best quality in our products," said Beltran during a visit with the Gazette.
The couple said they were grateful for the assistance and advice they had received from others since relocating to McCook.
"We are new in the business world and are open to constructive criticism in order to continue growing and providing the best products and service. When you come to Carniceria CB ask for our meat marinade and homemade sauces, you are sure to love!" said Beltran.
In addition to fresh meats, cheeses and imported dry grocery items, Carniceria CB is also selling imported gift items, candy and sodas, outdoor grills ideal for fajita cooking and fresh mexican style breads, among a host of other items. Stop by on the weekends and you'll find them selling authentic Mexican tacos you're certain to enjoy.
The grocer is located at 212 West C Street in McCook, next to Spotlight Studios and just across the street from Ace Hardware. For more information call (720) 429-5225 or (720) 429-5277.
