Repair begins Monday on Highways 83, 6-34 in McCook
McCOOK, Neb. — Main routes through McCook will begin receiving a facelift Monday, but officials hope to keep disruptions to a minimum.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin July 15 on US-83 in McCook, from the BNSF Viaduct to the end of the concrete north of McCook and on US-6/34, from approximately the west corporate limit in McCook to the east corporate limit in McCook, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Ten Point Construction Co. Inc. of Denison, Iowa has the $1,408,130 contract. Work includes concrete pavement patching, curb repair, and sealing the concrete pavement.
During construction, traffic will be maintained with flaggers and lane closures. At the end of each work day, a minimum of one lane in each direction and every other intersection in the work area will be open to traffic. Access to local businesses will be maintained during the project. Anticipated completion is b winter 2019.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through construction zones and to use extra caution on alternate routes through the city.
