College board awards bids, extends president's contract
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Mid-Plains Community College board approved bids for furniture, parking construction and extended the college president’s contract through the 2021-22 year.
President Ryan Purdy now has a contract that calls for a salary of $239,200 for the 2019-20 school year, with a 4% increase each year, plus an addition 1% contribution to the president’s retirement fund.
Office Interiors and Design won a $129,487.24 bid for furniture for McCook Community College’s Learning Commons Area, and $118,251.59 for a similar space at North Platte Community College.
BSB Construction of Curtis won the $73,727.75 bid to remove old concrete and install new on-street angle parking on the 400 block of East L on the MCC campus.
Following review in a work session preceeding the regular meeting, the board approved the Associate Degree Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing programs, and approved the creation of a full-time electrical lab assistant position.
The nursing programs will be forwarded to the state Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education for approvals.
At the beginning of the regular meeting, Terry and Kathy Brown and Ricks Polk voiced their support for NPCC’s auto body program and the classic car restoration programs.
Board member Pam Abbott also reported that MPCC received good reviews at the Kiewit Corp. in Omaha about the transferrability of physics and engineering programs from the college.
The next meeting will be 6:30 p.m. June 26 in North Platte.
