OGALLALA, Neb. — McCook High’s girls qualified three for state and earned plenty of high places while placing sixth among 10 B-6 district teams on Thursday.

Complete Bison results will appear in an upcoming Gazette.

Coach Brent May provided these remarks:

“Again a great day for our throwers.

Senior Mackenzie Smith had a personal best 39’9” for first place in the shot putand that moved her to fifth on our all-time top ten chart.

Senior Jayceea Hanson threw her personal best in Shot Put with a throw of 38’11 for third place and Jayceea moved onto our all time top ten chart at numbe r9.

Mackenzie and Jayceea went one/two in the Discus.

Our other qualifier was Addison Randel in the high jump who placed third and also jumped the auto qualifying mark of 5’1”.

We had a lot of close calls, luck has many times held out for the Lady Bison and we have been on the inside of qualifying looking out, this year we were the opposite- looking in from the outside.

The top three qualify for state in each individual event. Senior Robin Grigg placed fourth in long jump nd missed qualifying by two inches.

Junior Brolin Morgan placed fourth in triple jump and missed state by an inch and three quarters.

Our 400-meter relay placed fourth and the top two teams in each district go to state, then the four fastest times, we had the fifth fastest time and would have qualified outright in three of the six districts.

Our 1600-meter elay placed fifth and were the sixth fastest non-qualifier and would have qualified outright in two of the six districts. Another set of great improvements on the day were the 1600 runners Elsi Rodewald, Grace Cappel and senior Skyla Henning who all had personal bests, Elsi also had a personal best in the 3200.

Overall we had nine personal bests, which is great at Districts.

The ladies have done a great job this year and we wish them all the best of luck. Special thanks to the assistant coaches Krisitn Blume, Staci Applegarth, Hilary Neff, and Bill Ramsay ass well as our volunteer assistants Trevor Taylor and Janet Dutton.”
