Longhorns will need new volleyball leader
IMPERIAL, Neb. — Chase County High School announced Jody Schuller has resigned after 24 years of teaching and coaching volleyball with the Longhorns.
It was made official this week as Schuller has accepted new duties with Alma High School.
Schuller will direct the Cardinas’ volleyball program while teaching K through 12 physical education classes.
For nearly a quarter-century, the Longhorns have cheered on volleyball success as Schuller, players and fans celebrated her 400th coaching victory last fall.
Schuller started as assistant coach in 1995-96 and assumed head coaching duties that fall.
The Longhorns have delivered many terrific seasons including their most recent state tournament appearance in 2016 when they posted a 24-7 record.
That capped a terrific four-year run from 2013-16 when the Chase girls won 95 matches and lost only 23. Their records were 24-4, 21-9, 26-3 and 24-7.
Thee’s a possibility Schuller will also coach Alma Junior High programs, according to a story in today’s Imperial Republican.
Her husband, Cory, will continue working for Great Plains Communications.
Watch for details about the new Longhorns’ coach when that is announced.
