BENKELMAN, Neb. — Former Nebraska football greats Adam Carriker and Eric Crouch are expected in Benkelman for the “Husker Splash” Thursday night.

The 6 p.m. event at 701 1st Street will feature a steak dinner, autographs and memorabilia auction.

Proceeds will benefit the Benkelman Splash Project, according to organizer Ben Blecha.

Tickets are $50 and include other refreshments.

Carriker was Nebraska’s defensive MVP as part of the 2005 Husker team which scored an Alamo Bowl win over Michigan.

He started three seasons at NU, then went on to four-plus NFL seasons with the then-St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins.

Carriker was named the Rams’ 2007 defensive “Rookie Of The Year”.

Most Husker fans also remember 2001 Heisman winner Crouch, who guided Nebraska to a BCS National Game at the Rose Bowl against Miami.

He topped 1,100 rushing and passed for more than 1,500 yards during that 11-2 season.

During his three years, Nebraska posted a 34-5 record under coach Frank Solich. He was a 2002 NFL third-round draft pick of those St. Louis Rams.

After various pro football opportunities, the former Millard North Parade All-American athlete is now a TV sports analyst and recreational equipment vendor.
