McCook boys deliver two great Topside wins
GOODLAND, Kan. — McCook’s boys brilliantly rebounded from an opening defeat and scored two 20-point-plaus wins to cap the Topside Tipoff Tournament.
Senior Seth Dugger it eight of 11 shots on Saturday, netting 19 points in the 59-34 consolation finals win over Burlington, Kan.
Dugger drilled all three shots from three-point range and pulled down seven rebounds.
New inside force Wade Burkert added 11 points.
On Friday, McCook took down Norton, Kan., Bluejays by a 47-25 final count.
Senior Gabe Sehnert’s 12 points paced a balanced attack following his 14-point effort against Colby, Kan., Thursday night.
The Bison lost that opener, 64-54, though they did score 27 fourth-quarter points.
“I was proud of how we fought back and battled until the end,” McCook coach Jeremy Yilk said about that first game. “Days two and three were steps in the right direction. We cut down on turnovers, took better shots and continued to get balanced scoring.”
