Trenton, Stratton say 'no' to sales tax
TRENTON, Neb. — The majority of voters in Trenton and Stratton at the polls Tuesday said “no” to taxes earmarked for general tax relief.
The village of Trenton was asking for a 1 1/2 percent sales and use tax to help pay for infrastructure, streets, economic development and bonded indebtedness. The vote was 109 against the tax and 68 in favor of it.
In Stratton, 95 voters said “no” and 47 said “yes” to a 2 percent sales and use tax also earmarked for infrastructure, streets, economic development and bonded indebtedness.
