It was a long night for Beaver Valley firefighters as they extinguished fires in a two-story house and a nearby RV in a farmyard near Danbury, north of Highway 89 on County Road 397 just across the railroad tracks, starting about midnight Sunday.

A neighbor said he heard a loud bang and could see flames from his front porch. Danbury fire chief Robby Quaduor said the house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. He quickly requested mutual aid from Indianola and Red Willow Western, and then, about 5:30 a.m., additional manpower from McCook and Red Willow Western to spell firefighters who had been on the scene all night. Quaduor said they were lucky there was no wind, and that a drizzly rain Thursday dampened surrounding grass and weeds. State fire marshal Ryan Sylvester said the cause of the fire is undetermined. The house and the RV were total losses. No one lived in the house, owned by the Trobaugh family.
