Flying rollin’ pins means its Old Settlers Day. In Indianola Saturday afternoon, women competed for distance by pitching rolling pins across the elementary school playground. Recording very respectable distances were Staci Blomstedt of McCook, above, 106 feet, 9 inches; Sydney Reichert of Benkelman, right, 93 feet; and Olivia Taylor of Cambridge, below, 81 feet, 4 inches. In another iconic Old Settlers competition, the men tossed golf clubs for distance. The annual Old Settlers weekend also included a parade, car and bike show,a pie and ice cream social, frog jumping, barbecue, street dances and the Bum Malleck threshing event.
