McCOOK, Neb. — Thunder and lightning never stopped Thursday night for those who ran into the McCook Football League champion teams at Weiland Field.

Just as they have all season, the Ravens and Eagles zapped foes with electric big-play touchdowns while their defenses rumbled through opposing blockers.

The Eagles finished like Super Bowl champion Philadelphia last February, focused on clinching their title despite a rainstorm that delayed Thursday’s season finale.

Bryson Gullion had already broke loose from several Cowboys for a 65-yard touchdown, then he did even better once play resumed.

Gullion’s 78-yard, second-half scamper proved to be the winner in a 13-6 Eagles victory. He delivered one PAT run while smothering Eagles defense did the rest against those Cowboys.

The Eagles went undefeated to an MFL fifth-sixth grade championship.

Meanwhile, even more explosive Ravens unleased a 33-6 defeat upon the Colts which finished their unbeaten seventh-grade season.

Corbin Horner was crazy good all season and he covered 129 yards with two first-quarter TDs (runs of 55, 74).

Lincoln Michaelis followed dominant blocks to a two-yard TD and 20-0 Ravens lead.

Lucas Wilson and Jacob Wilson took over touchdown duties in the final quarter.

Lucas stampeded 28 yards for one visit into the Weiland Field end zone.

However, Jacob nearly doubled Lucas’ journey with his 54-yard run to the final Ravens TD of this championship season.

Canyon Hosick, Horner and Lucas Wilson all added PAT runs for the MFL’s highest-scoring team in 2018.

The Colts scored a rare touchdown against that Eagles. They were coming off an exciting 13-6 overtime win over the Chiefs Wednesday.
