New dress day

Thursday, June 28, 2018

Wore my new dress today. Haven’t bought myself a new dress in a long time. Been waiting for a super, hot weather day to wear it cause the dress is very summery and I didn’t wanna look outta place. It was like 85 degrees with 102 percent humidity at 8:00 this morning so it was perfect. Also wanted to make sure my legs and arms were somewhat tan. Can’t wear a summery, sleeveless dress with a farmer tan. Love the color! Denim blue linen. Love the shape, very flowy and I don’t have to suck in my gut. Found the perfect bracelet to accentuate it too! Even matches my purse. This kinda day is rare.

I am kinda self-conscious about the length of it. It goes above my knees a few inches since I’m tall. Any normal woman, it would hit right at the knee. Anyway, I debated briefly with myself, if I should be wearing an above-the-knee dress since I’m 46 years old and don’t have the legs I used to 20 years ago, but then I talked myself into it. I decided who cares. It’s a pretty dress, I am NOT trying to be 19 and it’s hot out. I’m owning it!

The 11-year-old suggested no necklace but complimented me right off the bat on my “pretty dress” this morning so that was a nice start. Didn’t really see anyone at work today but that’s okay. Was kinda eager to see what Hubby thought but he flew into my office for a quick second to help me with some paperwork and then jetted out so fast I’m sure he couldn’t tell ya what I even had on. Oh well.

Stopped by the high school to help my middle daughter meet with her counselor to finalize her class schedule. Counselor commented how she liked my dress, which coming from her is quite a compliment as she always looks trendy and cute! 16-year-old daughter then tells me as were leaving, how pretty and tan I looked today and then says her classmate also pointed out how nice I looked today. Well, there ya go!

Ran out to my dad’s house to let my granddog out, but he didn’t say anything about my dress. But since dogs are colorblind, he probably didn’t notice. Or I guess if he did, I missed his reaction. That’s okay...

But now I’m wondering if I should just wear the dress all day? Maybe I should find some errands to run? Maybe go out for dinner in it? Shoot, maybe I just wear it again tomorrow? Just kidding, as comfy as it is, that might just be weird. I’ve enjoyed my new dress day!
