NRD official resigned prior to planned meeting
CURTIS, Neb. — The need for a special meeting Monday afternoon of the Middle Republican Natural Resources District board of directors was eliminated when board member and board chairman Buck Haag submitted his resignation Sunday.
MRNRD manager Jack Russell said early Monday afternoon, just past the Gazette’s press deadline, that Haag’s resignation is not official until the board acts upon it at its regular monthly meeting, on July 10.
Haag, of rural Bartley, and six other men were arrested June 8 and charged with soliciting prostitution in an undercover sting operation in Grand Island.
Russell had said originally the board would not have the opportunity to address the situation until its July meeting. However, in response to inquires about board reaction to the situation, it planned a special meeting for 1 p.m., June 25, in McCook.
Haag is one of two representatives of MRNRD Sub-District 6, which is the eastern portion of Red Willow County, including an area of McCook south of J Street, east of Norris Avenue and north of Highway 83.
