Culbertson pool player earns Vegas visit

PAXTON, Neb. — Rick Haddix from Culbertson has earned a trip to the American Poolplayers Association (APA) Poolplayer Championships in Las Vegas in April after winning the 8-Ball Singles Regional tournament held recently.

Devin Bolio from Benkelman and Vickie Thornbrugh from Stratton took second place in their respective 9-Ball brackets, earning a cash prize for their efforts.

Sixty-eight players from all over western Nebraska qualified for the 8-Ball and 9-Ball Regional event in Paxton with the top six players advancing to the championships in Las Vegas.

Players that earn a spot in the APA Poolplayer Championships in Las Vegas receive a generous travel allowance and paid lodging at the Westgate Resort and Casino, site of the APA Poolplayer Championships.

Once in Las Vegas, players compete with others from around the world for a share of over $450,000 in cash and prizes and a champion is crowned in each of eight skill level tiers.
