CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — A strong 17-7 fourth quarter broke the Cambridge boys away from Loomis Wolves and on to their 56-48 home win Friday evening.
The Trojans (5-2) were tied 39-39 until sophomore guard Paxton Ross got free to bury a pair of huge three-point baskets.
Cambridge also attacked inside with the powerful combo of seniors Caden Houghtelling and Tyler Borland.
Yet it was junior Preston Carbaugh’s clutch free throws that helped finally subdue the visiting Wolves.
Coach Drew Billeter’s Loomis boys slipped to 4-2 on the season. Billeter was a former top scorer on the Loomis boys’ Class D-2 state champion team in 2005.
No individual stats were obtained from this contest.
Cambridge takes the Christmas break before its next game at Hershey on Friday, Dec. 29.
