Last-minute TD lifts Lex over young Bison

McCOOK, Neb. — An opening 65-yard kickoff return turned into McCook’s only touchdown in a 12-6 eighth-grade loss to Lexington Tuesday at Weiland Field.

Cole Cappel used several great Bison blocks to tally that TD, and then connected with Matthew Pochop on a two-point conversion pass.

A Jadon Karp interception and Jonas Somerville fumble recovery helped McCook hold an 8-6 advantage through almost the entire game.

Almost.

Lexington scored at the 19-second mark to steal the season finale.

McCook did win the seventh-grade contest, 12-0.
