Wilcox-Hildreth 71, Maywood-Hayes Center 30 (Thur.)

HAYES CENTER, Neb. -- Maywood-Hayes Center closed its 2017 home schedule with a 71-30 loss to Wilcox-Hildreth Thursday in Hayes Center.

The visiting Falcons led 59-8 at halftime before cruising in the second half.

MHC (1-6) was led by quarterback Ethan Broker. The junior passed for 109 yards, ran for another 123 yards and scored three total touchdowns. His top target was Wesley Wach, who caught five passes for 101 yard and a score.

Colton Hodges led the Wolves’ defense with five tackles, while Paul White chipped in four stops.

MHC closes out its season with a Week 9 game at Red Cloud.


Arapahoe 70, Hitchcock County 22

ARAPAHOE, Neb. -- Senior Day at Arapahoe proved extra sweet, as the Warriors defeated Hitchcock County 70-22 to clinch the D2-8 District title.

Noah Koller led Arapahoe (6-1 record) with four touchdowns, 75 rushing yards and 34 receiving yards. Jacob Pruitt contributed four more scores on nine carries, while Jacob Eichenberger and Spencer Watson each had touchdowns as well.

Parker Ehrke, another Warrior senior, led the Arapahoe defense with 10 tackles and Carson Schroeder had two interceptions for the second straight week.

Arapahoe travels to Eustis-Farnam in Week 9 before playoff action.


Chase County 56, Minden 13

MINDEN, Neb. -- Chase County held Minden to 166 yards in a 56-13 win Friday in Kearney County.

Caleb Weiss led the Longhorn offense with 150 passing yards and three scores. Hi favorite target was Scott Wheeler, who had 105 yards and one touchdown. Wheeler also had a 50-yard punt return for a score. On the ground, Evan Fisher tallied 96 yards and two touchdowns.

Chase County (5-3 record) will host Chadron in Week 9 for a potential C1-10 District title.


Dundy County-Stratton 60, Morrill 0

BENKELMAN, Neb. -- Dundy County-Stratton posted a shutout Friday night with a 60-0 win over Morrill.

The host Tigers were led by Phalen Sanford, who had 165 yards and four touchdowns on just seven carries, a touchdown pass and a 55-yard punt return for a score.

DCS (4-3 record) travels to Hemingford in Week 9.


Hastings St. Cecilia 43, Southern Valley 16

OXFORD, Neb. -- Southern Valley fell to 0-8 with a 43-16 loss to Hastings St. Cecilia.

Southern Valley (0-8) closes out the season with a road game at Sandy Creek.


Hill City, Kan. 53, Decatur Community, Kan. 50

OBERLIN, Kan. -- Hill City, Kan., held on for a 53-50 win over Decatur Community, Kan., Friday night.

Friday’s contest saw the Ringnecks and Red Devils combine for 842 yards and 14 touchdowns. Both teams scored seven times.

Kole Breth had a season-high 181 passing yards on 15-of-20 passing for two touchdowns. He added two more scores running. Kel Grafel led the ground game with 121 yard and two scores.

Grafel led the Red Devil defense with 14 tackles and a fumble recovery. Dawson Kempt added 11 stops.

Decatur Community (2-5 record) travels to Hoxie, Kan., this Friday.


Rawlins County, Kan. 50, Quinter, Kan. 0

ATWOOD, Kan. -- Rawlins County, Kan., made quick work of visiting Quinter, Kan., with a 50-0 win in Atwood.

After scoring 40 points in the opening quarter, the Buffs added 10 more before halftime when the Kansas high school mercy rule came into effect.

Rawlins County’s (5-1) defense came up big Friday night, as Quinter mustered -12 yards of total offense.

The Buffs travel to WaKeeney, Kan., to take on Trego this Friday.


Southwest 38, Bertrand 22

BERTRAND, Neb. -- Southwest moved to 3-4 with a 38-22 win at Bertrand.

Bertrand opened the game with two touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Southwest would respond by scoring five of the game's final six touchdowns.

Ryan Van Pelt led Southwest with three touchdowns and 165 yards of offense (39 passing, 126 rushing). Logan Greenlee ran for 61 yards and a score on five carries, while Cody Downey had one touchdown and 34 yards.

Defensively, Greenlee had 10 tackles, while Tanner Brooks had eight stops. Derek Greenlee had an interception for the Roughriders.

Southwest closes out the regular season with a home game against Alma.


Wauneta-Palisade 63, Loomis 20

WAUNETA, Neb. -- Wauneta-Palisade improved to 4-3 with a 63-20 win over Loomis Friday night.

The Bronco ground game stole the show, as Wauneta-Palisade rushed for 278 yards and eight touchdowns on 41 carries. Sophomores Austen Rozelle and Ty Duvel led the rushing attack with 101 and 82 yards, respectively.

On defense, Caid Doetker notched 13 tackles. Ben Anderjaska had 12 stops and Cash Yearous had four tackles for loss.

Wauneta-Palisade concludes regular season action with a Week 9 game at Hitchcock County.
