Richard “Dick” Calvin Trainer

LONGMONT, Colo. — Richard “Dick” Calvin Trainer, 87, of Longmont, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1930, to Charles and May Trainer in Bartley, Neb. He grew up in McCook, Neb. He married his wife, Carolyn, the love of his life, on Dec. 26, 1950.

He served in the Air Force from 1950-1954; while stationed in Newfoundland, Canada, his first daughter, Debra, was born in 1953. They then moved to Boulder where three more daughters were born. In 1956, they moved to Sugar Loaf for 10 years. In 1966, they moved back to Boulder and bought the Arapahoe Lodge and built it into a very successful business, before selling it in 1999.

Dick was a man of many talents. He was a general contractor and fine craftsman. Dick also owned Longreach excavating.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; and two grandsons, Rick and Eric.

Dick is survived by his four daughters, Debe, Kari, Lisa and Stephanie; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.
