Quillan Courts construction past midpoint
McCOOK, Neb. — McCook’s latest income based housing development managed by the McCook Economic Development Corp. is taking shape north of the Red Willow County Fairgrounds. As of Monday, construction is complete on six of the ten buildings going up in the Quillan Courts housing development.
The housing development will have a total of 16 residential units upon completion, a mix of 3- 4- and 5-bedroom units. Seven tenants have already moved in, another two are expected to receive the go-ahead in the near future, and applications are still being taken for the remaining seven units, according to MEDC Housing Development Director Mary Kircher.
The most a person would pay for rent is $590 a month for a 5-bedroom unit, and as little as $440 per month for a 3-bedroom unit, according to Kircher. She said the majority of the remaining units looking for tenants are 4-bedroom floor plans, with all of the 3-bedroom units at least spoken for and only one 5-bedroom unit remaining.
Quillan Courts has income qualifications but no age requirements and includes four handicap accessible units. All units are equipped with new appliances, including a range, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and clothes washer and dryer, and both lawn care and snow removal is provided.
The units are all-electric and tenants are responsible for that and the water and sewer, Kircher explained. She hopes to have construction completed in the coming weeks and in the mmeantimeis busily processing applications.
Applications and additional information is available at the Welcome Home Realty office on the first floor of the Keystone Business Center, 402 Norris Avenue, Suite 101, or by contacting Kircher at 345-4054.
The $3.5 million Quillan Courts project transformed a pair of city blocks adjacent to the intersection of West 9th and West R Street, located just west of the $2.6 million Clary Village senior housing development.
Both developments, similar to the Keystone Business Center on Norris Avenue, are managed by the local-option sales tax reliant MEDC.
