NORTON, Kan. — Goldie Mae Stapp, 97, died Tuesday (June 27, 2017), at the Norton County Hospital in Norton.
She was born March 12, 1920, in Decatur County, Kan., to Joseph and Grace (Spiers) Kolsky. She attended Jennings grade and high schools, graduating in 1939. She married Donald William Stapp in Norton on Jan. 21, 1940, in a double wedding with his sister and brother-in-law. She and her husband lived on the family farm northwest of Norcatur and in 1968, moved to Oberlin, Kan.
She was a members of the Oberlin United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.
After her husband’s death, she moved to Garden City, Kan. and then to Norton to the Andbe Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rodney Stapp; daughter-in-law, Barbara Stapp; two brothers, Dallas and Ira Kolsky; sister, Marie Foster; brother-in-law, Ivan Janning; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce, Lucille and Mary Kolsky.
Survivors include twin sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marcia Stapp of Holcomb and Gary Stapp of Ord, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Delores Stapp of Norton; brother, Gerold Kolsky of Concordia; sister, Bettie Janning of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother-in-law, Dwaine Stapp of Oberlin; sister-in-law, Delores Longworth of Hastings, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday, July 1, 2017, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Rev. Larry Danforth officiating. Interment will be in the Norcatur Cemetery. Memorial funds may be given to the Oberlin United Methodist Church or Decatur County Last Indian Raid Museum, in care of Pauls Funeral Home, 121 N Penn Ave., Oberlin, KS 67749.
