Herrmann-Jones wins 13-12 over Cozad, reaches semifinals

OXFORD, Neb. -- No. 4 McCook Herrmann-Jones outlasted No. 5 Cozad in a wild 13-12 contest Friday night in the quarterfinals of the South Central Nebraska Baseball B League Tournament in Oxford.

Cale Johnson pitched 3 1/3 innings for Herrmann-Jones, while Carson Garcia (1 2/3 innings) and Ian Brown (1 inning) also featured on the mound for the McCook juniors.

With the win, Herrmann-Jones advances to play No. 1 Oxford in a semifinal matchup Tuesday in Oxford. Oxford advanced to the semifinals with a 1-0 forfeit win over Axtell. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Cambridge faces Alma in quarterfinal showdown

No. 3 Cambridge takes on No. 6 Alma in an SCNBL quarterfinal game Monday night for a spot in the tournament semifinals.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.

Alma advanced to the quarterfinals with a 13-9 win over the No. 11 McCook Cats, while Cambridge received a first-round bye.

Monday's other quarterfinal game will see No. 2 BerMis (Bertrand-Loomis) take on No. 10 Broken Bow at 6:30 p.m.
