McCOOK, Neb. — A terrific top of the first inning was about all two visitors could celebrate against McCook’s burly

B Legion teams Thursday evening.

The AmFirst Bank boys spotted Cozad a quick 4-0 lead, then showed everyone why they have won nine of 10 games this season.

They flexed their muscles for 13 runs while only allowing Cozad two more in a 13-6 victory at the Jaycees Complex.

Coach Greg Larson’s team clearly has built momentum going into league tournament play next week.

Meanwhile, the Herrmann-Jones Legion B boys weren’t about to let AmFirst have all of Thursday’s glory.

They arrived for the second game and unleashed a 12-2 beatdown upon Elwood at that same Jaycees Complex diamond.

Unfortunately, no other details were obtained from these two contests.

McCook didn’t quite achieve a 3-0 Thursday night as the McCook Cats took on Medicine Valley and lost 11-1.

The McCook Cats and Herrmann Jones are now scheduled to play again tonight with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Jaycees Complex.

Watch for results in Monday’s Gazette.
